The testimony of Jesus concerning
the Holy Bible

--Matthew--

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? (11:7)

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft [clothing] are in kings' houses. (11:8)

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. (11:9)

For this is [he], of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (11:10)

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (11:11)

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. (11:12)

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. (11:13)

And if ye will receive [it], this is Elias, which was for to come. (11:14)

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (11:15)

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, (11:16)

And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. (11:17)

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. (11:18)

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. (11:19)

But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. (17:12)

Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. (17:13)

For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen [it], repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. (21:32)

--Mark--

But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. (9:13)

--Luke--

And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? (7:24)

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. (7:25)

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. (7:26)

This is [he], of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (7:27)

For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. (7:28)

And all the people that heard [him], and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. (7:29)

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. (7:30)

And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? (7:31)

They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. (7:32)

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. (7:33)

--John--

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. (5:32)

Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. (5:33)

But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. (5:34)

He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. (5:35)
